LA County web developer

Crrently has four (4) Intranet and Internet production servers, running

ColdFusion and Microsoft .NET, that host web content and applications. The

Intranet site averages 3,000 users while the Internet site attracts about 35,000

visitors monthly. The majority of the content on these servers is database driven -

primarily Oracle and SQL Server, with a few Microsoft Access databases. DPW

currently uses close to 200 Internet and Intranet applications to support its daily

operations, with 20 new ones in development. ITDSA develops and maintains all of

these web applications as well as various mainframe systems and off-the-shelf

software.

 

TASKS

 

Tasks performed by the programmer(s) include all of the following:

1. Interview end-users and gather new or additional application

requirements. Document requirements and discuss them with

management.

2. Create new and/or update existing system design and workflow

documents using automated tools.

3. Design, document, create, and optimize database schemas. Tune

queries, stored procedures and functions to improve performance.

Merge data from multiple databases (Oracle and Microsoft SQL

Server).

4. Develop and/or enhance applications using the following languages,

tools and/or techniques: ColdFusion, HTML, C#, ASP.NET, AJAX,

SQL, PL/SQL, TSQL, Java, JavaScript, JQuery, Active Directory/LDAP

and XML.

5. Develop reports using Actuate, Crystal, Cognos, or Oracle Reports.

6. Test applications that have been developed by internal and external

staff and perform other applications development duties as needed.

7. Support DPW’s application upgrades, conversions and migration

schedules (possibly during nights/week-ends).

8. Work as part of a collaborative team and provide 24x7, support if it is ever

required.

9. Perform general technical troubleshooting and provide

recommendations to management.

10. Provide knowledge transfer to ITDSA’s technical staff and document all

work performed.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

The selected Consultant must meet all of the following minimum requirements:

1. Graduation from an accredited college with a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer

Information Systems, Computer Science or Computer engineering with

emphasis on application development. Provide copy of degree with

resume.

2. Two (2) years experience, within the last three (3) years, developing web

applications that automate business rules, provide high flexibility or reusability

and that are in production using ColdFusion, C#, and Cognos Report Studio.

3. Two (2) years experience, within the last three (3) years, designing and

normalizing Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server databases using Toad, SQL

Server Management Studio and other tools. This includes writing nested,

hierarchical queries, stored procedures, triggers, analytic functions, creating

regular or materialized views, tuning query performance and merging data

from various oracle and SQL server databases.

DOCUMENTATION

The consultant must provide the following documentation to assist in the selection

process:

Candidates must include a minimum of three (3) reference contacts with their

resume. The references must from employers for whom work was performed

developing web applications and designing and normalizing Oracle and Microsoft

SQL server databases in the last three years and must be verifiable. Resumes that

do not include references will be disqualified.

Manager, Leadership United Program

 

Title: Manager, Leadership United Program

Reports to: Director, Volunteer Center

Division:  Resource Development

Deadline: The targeted resume deadline is March 5 2010.  However, resumes may be accepted until the position is filled, regardless of the targeted deadline.

 

PURPOSE OF POSITION

Develop and implement relevant leadership training for potential and current non-profit board members and volunteers in the central Indiana community.  Plan, organize, promote and manage the annual Diversity Volunteer Recognition Breakfast.

 

EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree or comparable relevant work experience in volunteer management, education, social work, business administration, public administration or other related field required.  Staff development, training and adult learning experience preferred.  Proven ability to competently facilitate workshops and small groups required.  Must have effective verbal and written communication, events management and planning and team-building skills.  The ability to participate in strategic group planning and project implementation required.  Must be self-motivated, self-directed, able to handle multiple tasks, manage time efficiently, prioritize responsibilities while working independently with minimal supervision. A valid driver's license and reliable transportation required.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Under the direction of the Volunteer Center Director:

§ Manage the Leadership United leadership development program including: Ardath Burkhart Governance and Management Series, Executive Women’s Leadership Series, Leadership Training and Development for Diversity Series and Generation Now Series. Coordinate collaborative efforts with the Youth Leadership Initiative.

§ Identify non-profit board training deficiencies and address and incorporate relevant workshops into the leadership training curriculum. Assess curriculum annually and make appropriate changes.

§ Develop sustained relationships with moderators, trainers, company contacts, participants and alumni of leadership training and workshops.

§ Maintain integrity of components that differentiate and define the leadership training segments.

§ Ensure that workshop and leadership training goals are achieved for participants according to established objectives.

§ Work with campaign associates to solicit and secure sponsorships for Leadership United programs, including opening and closing retreats, graduation ceremonies, and other appropriate activities.

§ Develop and monitor leadership training budget and pricing with the Volunteer Center Director.

§ Manage Leadership United alumni program that brings value to participants and UWCI.

§ Coordinate and track Leadership Alumni placements on nonprofit Boards of Directors and committees

§ Coordinate other community leadership programs as directed.

§ Seek and develop community collaborations that increase leadership capacity for non-profit organizations by planning, promoting and evaluating educational opportunities that prepare volunteers for the challenges of board service and high-level non-profit leadership.  Evaluate effectiveness and relevance and respond appropriately.

§ Develop and implement promotional strategies to assure the maximum number of applications and admissions

§ Staff Leadership United alumni committee and other leadership-related committees as needed. .

§ Coordinate with the IU School of Medicine with their Community Leadership program for their students.

§ Plan, promote, coordinate, occasionally present and evaluate workshops on topics of interest to non-profit organizations in an effort to support corporate and individual philanthropic and volunteerism interests.

§ Plan, promote and organize the annual Diversity Volunteer Recognition Breakfast through corporate and non-profit mailings and media relationships while coordinating event logistics, reservations, ticket/table sales, speakers, etc.

§ In correlation with the annual Diversity Volunteer Recognition Breakfast, work with a committee to solicit award nominations for the Diversity Recognition Awards, manage judging of nominations and determine award recipients in the established categories.

§ Recruit and facilitate Diversity Volunteer Recognition Breakfast steering committee and other volunteers

§ Ensure that diverse populations are represented on the Diversity Volunteer Recognition Breakfast steering committee and are recognized by the awards

§ Act as the lead staff for coordinating the 9/11 Community Fair

§ Promote a cooperative spirit within the organization and among internal and external United Way participants.

§ Perform other duties as assigned.
